CHURCH HISTORY
It was January 11, 2002 when Ptra. Jhossie B. Hernandez started working as a domestic helper in Ma On Shan New Territories, Hong Kong. While she was working there, it is also her burden to start a ministry abroad. Month of February when she received a mission order from Ptr. Ferdy Y. Gonzalez (The President of the Board Of God Is Alive Christian Ministries Inc.) to help the existing God Is Alive Church through the leading of Ptr. Nolan and Ptra. Marie Garcia which is located in Hunghom, Kowloon and to start a new Bible study in the area where she works.

She started having friendship evangelism in the vicinity of her workplace. Sis Liezel Y. Javate and Sis. Aimee Cunanan, both members from GIA Cabanatuan offer their help to start the ministry. April 5, 2002 when they’ve been in the place where most of the Filipino’s living in the New Territories spent their holidays, and it was located in Shatin, N.T. They walk through the place, seeking every opportunity to talk to every Filipino people that they meet on the way. During their personal evangelism, they meet “ Pinay’s “ doing “soap curving “,making it into bouquet of flowers and selling it. So they buy to them and invite them to have a Bible study in their area, and they agreed. The next Sunday, dated May 12, 2002, they held their first Worship Service which is also the celebration of Mother’s Day, in an open space, the lower ground of Shatin Library where the Town Center and Town Hall is located. The attendees are all domestic helpers. They gather every Sunday, since it is the usual schedule of their day-off. Because of the background of the place (The area is where Pinays play cards, sell Filipino food, do hair cuttings & other kinds of part time work) persecution arises, & most of those who attend did’nt want to continue. So they decided to move into another place. Their Bible study in that place lasted for 6 months.

They move to Shatin Park, and 2 of their new converts help them in finding new contacts. By the Lord’s grace, they meet another group of about 13 people, and start Bible Study with them. They continue having Worship Service every Sunday morning & personal evangelism in the afternoon. Soon, they open another Bible Study in the afternoon with different group of members, which comes from different locations in the Philippines.

By the year 2003, Sis. Emie B. Padilla, Sis. Tessie De Guzman, & Sis. Liwayway P. Chung came and help in the ministry together with the newly converted members. From that time until October 2004, they just gather in different places in Shatin Park. Due to the changes of climate in Hong Kong, they cannot stay in the same place. During Summer & Autumn, they gather under the trees & shaded areas, during rainy season, they gather in Shatin Ampitheater or any covered areas, & during Winter, they gather in closed areas, or if there is no available place, they just bring additional thick clothes to cover them, because of the cold weather.

Year 2004 when they start praying to have their own Worship place. Since most of their members came from Tuen Mun New Territories, they decided to rent a flat in that area. By the middle of the month of November 2005, they moved in Tuen Mun and held their Worship gathering in Tuen Mun Park, while they’re still searching for a place to rent. By December 2005, they’ve found a place which is very near in the market within the vicinity of Tuen Mun. 3rd week of December when they finally moved in their Worship place in Flat D, 3rd Flr., Man PO Bldng., 11 San Tsing St. San Hui Market, Tuen Mun, New Territories. In that place, they held their Worship gathering every Sunday morning, 10:30-12-00nn. In the afternoon, they have their Cell group gathering. Practice in the Music ministry & dance are done after the cell group gathering. They conduct trainings, film showing, and water baptism during their “ Statutory Holidays “

From then on, the ministry is growing, and new members are added and developed for the work of the ministry & in using their lives for God’s Kingdom.
