CHURCH HISTORY
In the early 80’s, the time when the Philippines experienced a spiritual awakening, a young counselor by the name Rommel Eustaquio, a Baptist, a Charismatic Preacher and a Volunteer Counselor of 700 Club, started a small Bible Study and this gave birth to a fellowship known as Soldiers of God.
October 1983 when Bro. Rommel Eustaquio, together with Jun Toquero, Freddy Valencia, Nelson Anastacio, Orlan Reyes and some friends from the 700 Club International started a Bible Study in Sis. Tessie’s house at 15th Ave. Murphy, Quezon City, it was conducted every Wednesday evening on a weekly basis. The Bible Study group grew from 3 attendees up to 12, because of the commitment of Sis. Tessie that influenced their next door neighbor to seek God through this ministry.
The group moved out from Sis. Tessie’s place and transferred to a bigger place at Kobe Chicken House in EDSA (1984). The first fellowship was conducted in the morning. The Lord blessed the fellowship and grew and was transferred again in Kabisera Restaurant also in EDSA. In the middle of the year 1985, Soldiers of God left Kabisera Restaurant because it was converted into a night spot. The Lord gave Wendy’s Fiesta Carnival 2nd floor as a worship hall every Sunday mornings. After a year, the fellowship transferred to Ben Franks also in Cubao, and the fellowship undergo some trials and persecutions and it was transferred in Sis. Evelyn’s place in White Plains, Quezon City. The Children Ministry was strengthen because of the commitment of the elders Sis. Myrna and her sisters together with the young people. Home Studies, Prayer Meetings were conducted and the fellowship transferred to a bigger place at Rosario Bldg. along Aurora Blvd. (1998-1990). Because of financial difficulties, the fellowship was transferred to Sis. Myrna’s place in Sonia Subd. Dela Paz, Pasig City. After a year, it transferred to the 2nd floor of the Tri-Seven Bldg. along dela paz, Pasig City. The fellowship conducted Evangelism and Home Bible Studies and it grew in number and after 3 years, we transferred to a big place because the former place cannot accommodate more than 35 persons. Also mid-1993, Pstr. Orlando T. Reyes took the position as Head Pastor in Pstr. Rommel’s place who pursued a career in politics and later put up a business. We transferred to the 2nd floor of the Triangle East Market at dela Paz, Pasig City. We started there for 3 years which is enough to train new leaders for the ministry. Our contract on the said place ended last 1999 and we transferred again across the Highway at 805 Emerald Drive dela Paz, Pasig City. We rented the place from May 1999 until March 2004. By April 2004, we then transferred to 49 Dragon St. Midtown Subd. San Roque, Marikina City until present.
In April 2002, we joined the God is Alive Christian Ministry because of the need of our fellowship to be more involved in the ministry and community and since the co-founder of Soldiers of God is a former leader and member of God is Alive, it was approved from April 2002 up to the present, we are using God is Alive Christian Ministry Midtown Chapter as our church name. To God be the glory!!
